It may come as a surprise to some of us, but in addition to being the icon of an entire generation and a talented writer and composer, Kurt Cobain was also a painter.
With subtle brushwork, his compositions are wild and playful, but rather dark, with deformed, expressive figures that look a lot like the works of Edvard Munch.
Although his paintings have already made the rounds online, United Talent Agency has decided to present his artwork in a gallery for the very first time.
According to the New York Times, the exhibition will take place at the Seattle Art Fair, where fans and art lovers will be able to enjoy two of his original paintings.
Cobain's notebooks (which haven't been touched since his death in 1994) and a dozen works by other rebel artists like Mike Kelley, Nate Lowman, Elizabeth Peyton and Raymond Pettibon, will accompany the two works.
One of the paintings is untitled, but it is the same artwork used on the album cover for Incesticide. Unfortunately, the paintings will not be available for sale. As United Talent Agency representative Joshua Roth explains:
The Seattle Art Fair takes place August 3-6, 2017. You can also check out additional paintings by Kurt Cobain below."It's too hard to put a price on them. They're very special to the family."
