Marshall's Steward Butler reportedly turns himself into police on Wednesday morning.

Marshall University running back Steward Butler was arrested and charged with two counts of battery after allegedly beating two gay men moments after they kissed in public last month.
The 23-year-old turned himself into the Huntington Police Department in West Virginia on Wednesday morning but was released on a $10,000 bond.
On April 5, two men were reportedly beaten after kissing at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 9th Street — Butler allegedly witnessed the moment, left his vehicle, shouted homosexual slurs at the duo and punched both victims in the face.

Huntington Police Detective Chris Sperry told the Herald-Dispatch that one of the men captured the attack on video, and added that he's turned over evidence to the FBI so it can review if there were any civil rights violations.
The running back posted 295 carries for 2,063 yards during three seasons with the Thundering Herd. He also has 18 touchdowns.
Marshall University football program released a statement Wednesday afternoon:"We are aware of the situation … and are currently in the process of gathering all available information,” Marshall athletics spokesman Jason Corriher wrote in a press release. “We will handle the matter internally and appropriately.”
