Shamorie Ponds G, Jr., Jefferson: Ponds exploded onto the scene this year by scoring 44 points in Jefferson’s 131-89 win over Cardinal Hayes. He averaged 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists per game to lead the Orange Wave to the PSAL semifinals while also drawing interest from several Division I schools, including Seton Hall and St. John’s.
Jahlil Tripp, F, Sr., Lincoln: After missing his junior season due to a stress fracture, Tripp rebounded in a big way this season, scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds per game this season to lead Lincoln to the PSAL quarterfinals and the Brooklyn borough championship game.
Najee Larcher, F, Sr., Xaverian: Larcher averaged 13.2 points per game and was a tough matchup for opponents with his 6-7, 190 pound frame. He led the Clippers to both the diocesan championship and CHSAA championship, where they lost both games to Christ the King.
Gianni Ford, G, Jr., Boys & Girls: Led the Kangaroos to the PSAL semifinals after upsetting Lincoln in the quarterfinals by leading Boys & Girls with 17 points against the Railsplitters. Ford averaged 19 points per game this year, and has received interest from Villanova, Hofstra, Houston and an offer from Stony Brook.
Jaquan McKennon, G, Sr., Jefferson: McKennon was the quiet anchor for the Orange Wave this season, but came alive in the postseason by scoring 17.8 points per game after averaging 10.2 points in the regular season to lead Jefferson to the Brooklyn borough championship and the PSAL semifinals.
Honorable Mention: Tyler Bourne, Lincoln, Fr.; Isiah Deas, Jefferson, Jr.; Nehemiah Boone, Boys & Girls, Jr.
