Linkin Park Earns Record 23 Titles on Hot Rock Songs Chart

The band also becomes the first act to rank at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 simultaneously on Top Rock Albums, following the July 20 death of Chester Bennington.

Linkin Park charts a record-breaking 23 titles on Billboard's Hot Rock Songsranking (dated Aug. 12) after the July 20 death of frontman Chester Bennington. The band also crowns the Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts.

On Hot Rock Songs, Linkin Park bests David Bowie, who charted 21 songs on the chart dated Jan. 30, 2016, after he died Jan. 10. (The chart began in 2009.)
Linkin Park's haul on Hot Rock Songs is led by 2001's "Numb," which jumps 6-2 in its second week. (Older songs are eligible to appear on the 50-position chart in the top 25 if sparked by a meaningful reason for their return to prominence.) Three of the top five ("In the End" and "Heavy," the latter featuring Kiiara, rank at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively), and seven of the top 10 are Linkin Park songs that span the band's discography, from 2000's Hybrid Theory to 2017's One More Light.
On the Billboard Hot 100 (where older songs are eligible to return if in the top 50), "Numb," "In the End" and "Heavy" re-enter at Nos. 34, 37 and 45 (a new peak), respectively.
Also notably, two former No. 1s on Hot Rock Songs re-enter for the first time since their heyday: "Burn It Down," an 11-week No. 1 in 2012 (No. 23), and "New Divide" (12 weeks at No. 1 in 2009; No. 24).
With six debuts, Linkin Park now totals 35 career Hot Rock Songs entries, the second-most after Imagine Dragons' 38. (Linkin Park breaks out of a third-place tie with Coldplay and John Mayer.)
On Top Rock Albums, One More Light rises 3-1 for a second week on top, up 122 percent to 50,000 equivalent album units (of which 32,000 are pure sales), according to Nielsen Music. Hybrid Theory (41,000 units, up 177 percent) and 2003's Meteora (33,000, up 203 percent) follow at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, making Linkin Park the first act to monopolize the Top Rock Albums chart's top three in a single week.
Hybrid Theory additionally spends a second straight week at No. 1 on Hard Rock Albums.
Linkin Park assumes the entire top five and eight of the top 10 on Hard Rock Digital Song Sales, led by "Numb," in its first week at No. 1 (32,000 downloads sold, up 201 percent). On Rock Digital Song Sales, the band takes 14 of the 25 positions.
Rock Streaming Songs finds the band at a new peak of No. 2 with "Numb" (11.7 million U.S. streams, up 116 percent) and with 11 entries in all.
Meanwhile, the One More Light title track debuts at No. 50 on the all-rock-format Rock Airplay chart (1.1 million audience impressions, up 203 percent), despite not having been released as an officially promoted single.
Bennington died July 20 in Los Angeles from suicide by hanging and was laid to rest July 29 in Palo Verdes, California.
