I want to play a game, again.
You thought you saw the last of John Kramer, right?
Wrong. Thanks to the Spierig Brothers, he'll be returning this Halloween in familiar fashion.
The Brothers' "Jigsaw" slashes its way into theaters on Oct. 27.
It is the first film in the "Saw" universe since 2010's "Saw 3D." The first film, released in 2004, earned $104.7 million off a $1.2 million budget. It also put "The Conjuring" and "Aquaman" director James Wan on the map — as "Saw" — and the twisted Jigsaw Killer — was his brainchild.
"Jigsaw" stars Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie, Cle Bennett and Matt Passmore, among others.
Since fans of the horror franchise have to wait a few more months before the release, let's break down the recent trailer:
Just follow the rules!
The clip begins with a female runner making her way through a city park. She looks up and discovers a body dangling from the bridge overhead as voiceover from Tobin Bell's John Kramer/Jigsaw warns "You want mercy? Play by the rules."
Then, what appears to be the main narrative unfolds. Five people wake up in an enclosed space, with strange, bucket-like contraptions on their heads.
Meanwhile, law enforcement and forensics delve into the apparent murder case — analyzing flesh cut in the shape of a puzzle piece and playing a thumb drive containing audio. Frightened or alarmed, one female character says, "It's not him, it can't be."
"The truth will set you free," the recording says.
Those trapped in the undisclosed location begin getting pulled on the chains toward a wall, filled with saws.
It appears SWAT teams swoop into action, to try and crack the case and find the missing people.
"Live or die, the choice is yours," the voice of Kramer reminds his listeners.
Time’s up
One female victim cries, "You know what happens if we don't follow the rules!"
Meanwhile, on the "outside," law enforcement determines that the blood beneath the fingernails of the park victim is Kramer's.
The remaining parts of the trailer feature edge-of-your-seat action and gore. Characters get stuck in a sand trap as blades fall from the ceiling, and female characters plot how to "win" the "game."
And it wouldn't be a "Saw" film — or trailer for that matter — without an appearance from Billy the Puppet (who's still equally as scary as he was a decade ago). He, of course, pedals up on his creaky bike.
Graphics on the trailer announce that Jigsaw has "returned to take back Halloween."
